KEY POINTS / NEXT STEPS (Action)

Welcome & Role of College Council

Presenter: Moller

·         Introductions and a brief discussion of what the role of College Council is. A request to have the deans send out a message to all the people in their divisions who their division contact for College Council is was made. There is a master list of all the membership on the College Council website. There is some confusion on what the decision making ability of this body is, so we need a little more clarification.

Social Media

Presenter: Parini/Nelson

·         The College has hired Lindsay Nelson as an online social media intern. Her charge was to focus on Facebook and Youtube. The purpose was to build relationships with a wide audience, student recruitment, instantaneous news transmissions, and opportunities to resolve concerns and issues. This is a good forum for students to voice their concerns. She has found out through her work that we need: unification; fresh, diverse multimedia content; join Youtube EDU; decide on a consistent slogan/brand “I am Clackamas”; define social media guidelines for the future. If you’re interested in starting a Facebook page for your department, contact Janet Paulson and she’ll help you get it set up. There will be some social media workshops this winter.

AR 602-001 Tuition Waivers

Presenter: Lundy

·         Each college was required to add the senior citizen audit program. They must be auditing, it must be 8 credits or less. They still have to pay the other fees and for books. The “fill-a-seat” voucher program has ended. We still have programs set up for the business partnerships, but we don’t have the “fill-a-seat” program as such anymore.

Fall Moodle Start-Up

Presenter: Beining

·         Most of the courses have been converted from Blackboard to Moodle. We have about 6,000 students signed onto Moodle this term. There have been about 200 students who have had trouble getting into the system. Another thing that ahs caused some issues is the fast paced timeline.

Continuous Learning Collaborative (CLC)

Presenter: Gray

·         There was an activity that people wrote down on cards what their 3 top things that students needed to learn. Those items were shared from the smaller groups to the entire group.

DRAFT 2011-12 Academic Calendar

Presenter: Lundy

·         The approval from this group was given as written. If you have any questions, you can contact Elizabeth Lundy at x3020.

LEAN 14 – Class Scheduling

·         A group of 11 departments is working with the Curriculum & Scheduling Office (CSO) to pilot having the schedule entry into Datatel come out of the CSO office rather than out of the departments.
